The homeowners were in need of a major renovation on the entire first floor of their lovely home. The kitchen was laid out in a confined and boxed in manner, not allowing for entertaining in the kitchen.
The homeowners were eager to change the layout of the first floor of their home by updating the flooring, cabinetry, appliances, and furnishings while increasing the use they would be able to get out of the space. The kitchen was very large with cabinetry and appliances spread along walls with a large and awkward space in the middle that was not often used.
The resident of this lovely home was interested in making a drastic change in the design and style of their kitchen. The preexisting cabinetry, flooring, and countertops were becoming very bland and outdated compared to what the owner had in mind.
The homeowners of this beautiful residence were looking for a change in their kitchen and dining area. They were interested in remodeling and renovating their kitchen in order to create a contemporary kitchen with modern amenities such as granite countertops and modern cabinetry.
The homeowner wanted to change the overall tone of her kitchen in order to make it seem brighter, more inviting, and updated all well increasing the functionality of the space.
The original kitchen in this older home desperately needed updating. Everything was crunched into a small space, with doors on facing walls—one in from outside, the other leading to the rest of the house—making it traffic central.
The kitchen was cramped and awkward, with limited cabinet storage and counter space. Lighting was limited to one ceiling fixture, and the sink was almost hidden beneath a cabinet. The entire effect was dark and cave-like. The owner wanted to rework the entire floor plan of the old-fashioned kitchen, opening it up to the family room to create a more modern and efficient open-concept living space.
Besides being outdated, the small L-shaped kitchen was hampered by short walls, giving it limited storage and even less counter space. By removing the back wall and moving the kitchen into the previous dining space, the work areas could be expanded and a more useful environment created.
While reasonably spacious with a functional layout, the kitchen was very dated and dark and needed an infusion of style. A wall divided the kitchen from the dining room, and was the site of a planning desk that served as a catchall, as well as providing an inconvenient site for a second oven.
Even with an abundance of cabinets the original kitchen was cramped and dark. The owner wished to modernize the space, opening it up into the living room/family room area. Larger openings were also desired between the dining room and family room and between the kitchen and hallway, with the hope of creating a more open concept space.
