About Lincolnshire, IL
Lincolnshire is an affluent Chicago suburb just 17 miles from O’Hare International Airport and a 32-mile Metra ride to the Chicago Loop. A number of large corporations call the Village home, including Walgreens, Zebra Technologies, CDW and Aon Hewitt. A drive down Milwaukee Avenue reveals the character of Lincolnshire: on the west side, huge modern office buildings rise, half-hidden by mature trees and foliage, while on the east are upscale residential communities, some with winding, tree-lined roads leading through. And then there’s furniture row, with several high-end furniture stores calling to the sophisticate in you. Though just 4.6 square miles, Lincolnshire is blessed with major arterials feeding it—Half Day Road (Hwy 22) at the north, Milwaukee Avenue (Hwy 21/45) through its middle, and the Tri-State Tollway (I-94) on its east side. While the Village borders Buffalo Grove, Lake Forest, Deerfield and Vernon Hills, it seems all roads lead to Lincolnshire–and it’s a trip worth taking.
The Village of Lincolnshire, at 7,280 residents (as of 2013) may be tiny in comparison with neighboring villages, but it carries itself proudly. With a median household income of more than $130,000, this is an upscale population that demands and enjoys excellent schools with most elementary students attending Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District 103, and older students going to the nationally top-ranked Adlai E. Stevenson High School District 125.
Lincolnshire possesses a cultural arts climate worthy of a bigger city, thanks in large part to the presence of the Lincolnshire Marriott Theater, a nationally-acclaimed producer of Broadway musicals. With more than 500 Jefferson Awards (Chicago’s Tonys) to its credit, the Marriott not only serves as the regional gateway for new Broadway musicals, it also develops new works for pre-Broadway tryout. This jewel is set in the crown of the Marriott Resort, 170 acres of luxury hotel, including four restaurants and a golf course. Other community cultural activities include summer festivals such as the Taste of Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire Art Festival, and the highly anticipated Fourth of July celebration, aptly titled, “Red, White and Boom!” at Spring Lake Park. In addition, the Lincolnshire Academy of Dance is located in nearby Vernon Hills.
There’s lots to do in little Lincolnshire. Shoppers enjoy the upscale shops in Lincolnshire Commons, and the Village boasts excellent upper-end restaurants. Lincolnshire dedicates 181 acres to outdoor possibilities, including a canoe launch on the Des Plaines River at the Rivershire Park Nature Center. The Florsheim Nature Preserve uses its 110 acres to protect rare and endangered plant species while offering observational walking paths. North Park’s 62.5 acres are popular for competitive athletics, including the “Summer Slam” travel baseball tournament, sponsored by the Lincolnshire Sports Association. For summer swimming, Spring Lake Park offers a small fresh water lake with a sand beach and a catch and release fishing pond. You’ll also find an athletic complex at Whytegate Park, while all the parks offer a variety of sports courts, including tennis, basketball and volleyball. Lincolnshire’s parks enjoy a close relationship with the schools, offering a variety of programs and activities.
Small in size but huge in livability, Lincolnshire offers the good life for all.
