Bathroom Renovation in Morton Grove, IL
One of Chicago’s northern suburbs, Morton Grove is an urban community of 23,519 located just west of Skokie and south of Glenview, and boasts two award-winning high school districts, Maine Township District 2027 and Niles Township high Schools (North and West) District 219. The village offers a small-town feel with local shops and tree-lined streets, and is home to the North Branch Trail, a paved path through the 113-acre Miami Woods, a haven that offers woodlands and prairies perfect for walking, biking, or on-leash dog walking, with picnic areas available.
The Job
The job was a small hall bathroom. The owner wanted a complete redo, making the small space seem more spacious by giving it a clean, modern look while maintaining the existing arrangement of fixtures.
Project Summary
All fixtures, cabinetry, tile, and existing plumbing and electrical work were removed, as well as the walls and existing flooring. Additional insulation was added for ceiling and exterior walls, and entire bathroom was covered with water-tight cement backer board. The shower walls were tiled to the ceiling with Daltile Florentine tile in Carrara White tile, which was then extended to the rest of the bathroom at a 48” height. A Panasonic Whisper Lite fan was added in the ceiling, as were three recessed can lights. A new Hansgrohe tub was set in the existing position, accented by a Grohe Ultra shower head and faucet and a Delta grab bar, with a storage-smart niche set in the end wall. The old toilet was replaced by a new, white Toto Promenade toilet next to the new Regency vanity of Shaker White Maple, with an Elkay white sink set under a Taylor Tere Stone counter. A Kohler one-piece Fort faucet finished the sharp look. To soften the all-white-and-chrome bathroom and give a nod to tradition, the floor was covered with Daltile’s Keystone hexagonal tile, in Arctic White with Laticrete’s antique white grout. A medium-dark gray paint was applied above the tile line, offering a subtle contrast to the room’s bright white tile and fixtures. Finally, a Kohler flat silver medicine cabinet played on the modern design while its flush-mount helped give a more spacious feel to the small room.
End Result
The small, dated bathroom was suddenly bright and modern, yet pleasant and welcoming for guests and family. If you are interested in a bathroom renovation in Morton Grove, IL, contact the professionals at Regency Home Remodeling.
