Perhaps most impressive, however, is the breathtaking Bahá’í House of Worship, completed in 1931 and the oldest surviving such house of worship, and named one of the “Seven Wonders of Illinois” by the Illinois Bureau of Tourism.

Wilmette is a family town, and education is a top priority; consequently, the schools are highly ranked in state and national listings. Famous New Trier alumni include legendary actors Rock Hudson and Charlton Heston, Producer John Hughes, crime author Scott Turow, former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, and actor Rainn Wilson. The village is also home to several parochial college prep schools, including Loyola Academy and Regina Dominican High Schools.
