The Subject Property
This practical Streamwood home was thoughtfully efficient, with master baths both upstairs and down. But the downstair master was trying too hard to be all things for all people, with a closed-off water closet/shower that made the rest of the room dark and dingy. By opening it up and connecting the two areas, Regency Home Remodeling was able to create a bright, open, modern room that provides better service as well as astounding luxury.
Removing those enclosing walls was just the start, allowing the 6” x 48” Seasoned Wood tile floor in Orchard Gray to unite the areas by stretching into the sunny wet room. There, a spectacular open shower delivers rustic chic panache, thanks to the Regency designer’s creative shaping and walls of Daltile’s 3” x 6” Notting Hill wall tile, also used to back the niche and wrap around and hug the new free-standing Barclay Giselle cast iron tub from Studio 41. The open shower floor delivers further style with a floor of 12” x 12” Rhetoric Field Tile in Philosopher Beige. In the vanity section of the room, KraftMaid cherrywood cabinets finished in Aged Bourbon boast a granite countertop in G446 Bianco Antico, which is also used to coordinate the shower’s niche shelf and a shower threshold that flows upward to create a stunning sculptured bench. All the pieces are pulled together with Kohler’s oil-rubbed Bronze fixtures and accessories for a totally terrific room.
