About Winnetka, IL

Winnetka is a highly affluent village located in Cook County about 16 miles north of Chicago. Ranked the richest municipality in Illinois and second in the United States, this area has a lot to offer in terms of public education and other public services. In 1965, Martin Luther King Jr. spoke in Winnetka and there is a plaque located in the village green that is dedicated to him and his life work. There are many large and lavish homes in this area and this is probably the reason that Home Alone and the beginning of Home Alone 2 were filmed in this area in one of these gorgeous houses.

The Subject Property

This lovely home was in need of a renovation for the master bathroom and kids bathrooms. The homeowners were interested in giving their bathrooms huge modern upgrades while also increasing the size and spatial layout. There was a large and awkward area between the master bathroom and the closet that could not be used effectively. Regency created a design to get rid of this space while moving the master bathroom and increasing the size of the kids’ bathroom. The kids’ bathroom was greatly increased in size as well as increasing the size of the vanity to incorporate a second sink for both kids to use. All of the plumbing for both bathrooms was completely redone in order to change the location of the vanities, tubs, shower, and toilets in both bathrooms to new and more efficient locations. The closet was also renovated into a sleek new area.

End Result

The result of the major renovations brilliantly completed by Regency was successful in converting an unused and inefficient space into part of a beautiful master bathroom. The kids’ bathroom was increased in size by close to 40 square feet! This extra space allowed for the addition of an extra sink and mirror while increasing the space for the toilet and tub, which were moved to their own separate area so that the kids would be better able to share the bathroom. The new vanities were topped with MSI International granite with Cashmere Carrera and Arctic White finishes for the master bathroom and kids’ bathrooms respectively. The master bathroom was given a huge modern upgrade by replacing the outdated, small shower area with a very large and gorgeous new shower finished with Daltile unpolished white tile. The shower was outfitted with three Hansgrohe showerheads and a very sleek satin stainless Infinity Drain shower drain. The built-in tub was replaced with a Victoria & Albert standalone tub. These changes were successful in turning the master bathroom into a very usable and functional space. The overall changes masterfully achieved by Regency were successful in creating two beautiful and modern bathrooms that will definitely keep the parents comfortable and the kids from arguing while they are enjoying their new bathroom.
