About the North Park Neighborhood

North Park is a neighborhood of Chicago located between Cicero Avenue and the North Shore Channel, just 9 miles northwest of The Loop. Nearby neighborhoods include, Irving Park, Hermosa, Edgewater, Avondale, Norwood Park, North Center, and Rogers Park with Albany Park, Forest Glen, Lincoln Square, and West Ridge neighboring North Park. Two educational institutions that attract people to this community are North Park University and Northeastern Illinois University. Popular restaurants in this neighborhood include Tre Kronor, Via Veneto, Midori, and Charcoal Delights. With easy access to the “L” train line, North Park is a great place to live, work, or even just visit.

The Subject Property

The homeowners of this lovely house were ready to update their kitchen and dining area. They wanted their outdated home to be revived and have a completely new look. Prior to the renovation the walls and cabinets in this home were very dark making it hard to feel how open and spacious this floor plan is. Regency knew the key to updating this home were white cabinets, a subtle gray color on all the walls throughout the first floor, and a beautiful quartz island and countertops. Additionally, the fireplace in this house was old-fashioned and ready to be modernized. Lastly, the dining area was only partially open to the rest of the house. So, a wall would need to be demolished in order for it to be open to the kitchen and flow with the rest of the house.

End Result

This renovation turned out great. Regency started by tearing out all of the cabinets and replacing them with white shaker style. We also replaced the countertops with a beautiful quartz from Daltile. The light and neutral countertops and cabinets give the kitchen a more modern and clean feel. The hardwood floor that extends throughout the entire first floor of the house needed to be touched up so we put on a coat of new stain to make them look brand new. In the dining area, Regency tore down the wall that closed the kitchen off from the dining room. This allows for easy access between the rooms and makes the whole floor more open and spacious. Next, Regency updated the fireplace to match the rest of the kitchen and dining area. We replaced the existing oversized mantel from the fireplace with a smaller neutral colored mantel that flows beautifully with the kitchen and dining area. The dated tile base was updated to a gray quartz hearth. Overall, this renovation turned out spectacular. The customers were extremely satisfied with their brand new looking kitchen and dining room and we were more than happy to make this happen for them!
