Basement Remodel Highland Park

This Highland Park walk-out basement was functional, but dated and looked like—well, a basement. The owners had already asked Regency Home Remodeling to update other areas of their home and decided to give them a go at this large, cluttered, blah area. As usual, Regency and its battalion of high-end designers, installers, and suppliers answered the call—and then some!

To start, the area was freshened up by painting the wood-paneled walls white and replacing the old drop-down ceiling with drywall and modern can lights. The floor came into stylish focus with Whistling Hills Rigid Core Lix vinyl flooring from Floor and Décor, and the stairs lost their old carpeting to new, natural-stained red oak treads. Then Climate Guard provided new, efficient doors and windows throughout to increase natural light. Regency’s own white shaker cabinets replaced the old-fashioned bar with a classic—and classy—bar with an Azure Beverage Center from ABT, with Daltile’s Q006 Tartarus Quartz top tumbling into a sophisticated waterfall down the side. A cluttered home office area became efficient as well as beautiful with dual desks topped with Butcher block tops from Menards, and clean white cabinets to replace old open bookshelves. But the final, truly elegant touch came with a custom entertainment center surrounding the TV and components with Daltile’s 24” x 48” Bravura Matte tile to create a true work of art.
