The Subject Property
The homeowners were in need of a major renovation on the entire first floor of their lovely home. The kitchen was laid out in a confined and boxed in manner, not allowing for entertaining in the kitchen. To combat this, Regency gutted the entire kitchen, removing any and all cabinetry and appliances. A partition wall was also removed from the perimeter of the kitchen to increase the space of the kitchen. The new cabinetry and counter was arranged in a much more open layout that also afforded a seating area at one of the kitchen counters. The owners were also ready for a change in the flooring on the first floor and were interested in having uniform flooring throughout the first floor.
End Result
A major change in this renovation was the increased size and spatial layout of the kitchen. What used to be a dark, confined space was converted into a light and beautiful open space that could easily entertain family and company. The dark cabinetry was replaced with KraftMaid solid maple white shaker cabinets topped with a Daltile thunder white granite counter top. The design of the new kitchen was topped off with a stunning white backsplash that is elegant and simple in design. Regency also installed new hardwood floors throughout the entire first floor with a cozy and comforting red oak finish from Floor and Décor using water-based varnish from Bona. This new flooring replaced the outdated, white tile floor in the kitchen, dark tile floor in the mudroom, and carpet floor in the living room. Eight recessed cans were installed in the kitchen and living room in order to create a much brighter atmosphere without the use of bulky lighting fixtures. The first floor of this home was elegantly modified into a much more open layout fitted with modern luxuries that are sure to keep the homeowner satisfied for a long time to come.
